Dear colleagues, dear biologists,
It is my great pleasure to invite you on behalf of the Organizing and Program Committee to the 15th Croatian Biological Congress, which will be held from 20 to 23 November 2025 in Zagreb, at the Sheraton Zagreb Hotel.
At the 15th Croatian Biological Congress, you will be able to present the results of your research through oral and poster presentations within eight thematic sections organized according to research area (Genetics, cell and molecular biology, Evolution, systematics, phylogeny and biogeography, Microbiology, Marine biology, Freshwater biology, Toxicology and ecotoxicology
Conservation biology, nature and environment protection, Comparative physiology, immunobiology and human biology, Biomedicine). The scientific program includes plenary lectures by invited speakers, as well as presentations for young researchers and educations. This congress will serve as an excellent platform for participants to expand their knowledge, enhance their professional networks and gain new insights into the latest trends and developments in basic sciences. I hope that you will have constructive and productive discussions at the round tables, and take part in interesting and useful workshops. With all this, we would like to draw your attention and to encourage you to contribute to the scientific and creative atmosphere of the Croatian Biological Congress.

Symposia
5th Biology Education Symposium
As part of the education symposium, we want to bring together all those involved in biology education research in one place and encourage them to present the results of their research in all aspects of biology education with the aim of promoting and improving all levels of education.
2. Symposium „Environmental DNA”
The aim of the “Environmental DNA” symposium is to bring together experts in the field of environmental protection, water quality control, marine and freshwater ecosystems, and all others interested in implementing environmental DNA technology in their research and projects. Environmental DNA is genetic material found in an environmental sample originating from various living organisms that inhabit that environment. Environmental DNA analysis allows us to detect individual species of interest or entier communities present in the environment using PCR methods and new sequencing methods. The results obtained can be applied in assessing the biological quality of water and the state of the environment, for monitoring invasive species and detecting endangered species. The “Environmental DNA” symposium will present the project conducted by Labena d.o.o. and the Ruđer Bošković Institute “Development of a nucleic acid-based test for the identification of species that indicate water quality”, financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
